Simon has entered both TUBBS and HotTUBBS into the Voice Festival 2012. There have been no other entries for the Bristol round yet.
The concert was a success, despite the flooding of both the concert and afterglow venues. It was suggested that a donation be given to the Stage Technicians' Association (STA) instead of St Paul's Church, to thank them for their help at such short notice. It was noted that Charlie Simpson (of BUJO) would be able to give the names of those members who helped out so we can give some wine another token of appreciation.
In addition it was unanimously agreed that the staff at The Richmond are awesome. Alice has collected money for a Christmas present for them and will also give our thanks for arranging the afterglow at Clifton Wine Bar after the Richmond was flooded.
Ella-Rose mentioned that a friend had a camera stolen from his bag during the afterglow. Simon agreed to include details of the lost camera in the next newsletter.
Some members of the committee questioned the necessity of holding a carol rehearsal with BUJO on the night of the concert, particularly in this instance as the concert was already running behind schedule. Jacob reported that many people from his section would have liked a carol rehearsal earlier in the term with more notice for members so more people can attend.
Dave reported that the profit from the concert was just under £600. Simon has informed the Ronald McDonald House about our donation and they have expressed their thanks.
Sophie L reported that QuarteTones and the Acabellas had made £500 last week! Sophie is planning a quartet event to take place next term. The Clifton Hill House bar was suggested as a venue for the next showcase, as Steve Bullock is the bar manager and can offer drinks discounts.
It was pointed out that, as the only two quartets with enough repertoire, QuarteTones and the Acabellas have been performing at the majority of quartets bookings. The committee discussed the possibility of some kind of reward being given to quartets who take bookings as a compensation for their time and effort. Members of the quartets in question mentioned that they enjoy performing at these events, however extra rehearsals are often necessary and can be time consuming.
Currently all profits from bookings that take place in term time go towards TUBBS, however outside of term time money is split five ways with TUBBS acting as the fifth member of the quartet. Dave and Anna suggested that this system be reversed for bookings during term time, where profits would be split five ways with four parts going to TUBBS and the fifth to go to the quartet. It was suggested that this might act as an incentive for new quartets to learn enough repertoire to take bookings (approximately 1 hour). However this presents a problem in choosing between quartets when more than one quartet is available for an event. Sophie L suggested a point system as an alternative, where quartets gain points by filling bookings and receive a reward at the end of the year. The committee agreed to think about the issue and make a decision after Christmas.
Sophie L has received an email requesting an ensemble for a wedding on 27th July. She has replied with information about quartets and suggested that Sophie W also email him with information about HotTUBBS.
Sophie mentioned that she has received few replies to her emails to the quartet mailing list. It was suggested that a quartets Facebook group be created as people may be more likely to check Facebook than their email accounts. In addition it was suggested that the group include a list of people happy to coach quartets.
Anna suggested the creation of a smaller ensemble of TUBBS, similar to H Club of the Great Western Chorus. Ella-Rose pointed out that this would be ideal for members interested in singing in a smaller ensemble without the commitment of being in a quartet. However it was noted that unlike GWC, TUBBS do not have a core repertoire

Anna will contact Craig Kehoe (MD of Bristol Fashion) while Simon will act as the link for the Great Western Chorus. The joint songs for the GWC and TUBBS gents have been decided as Mary Lou and You Make Me Feel So Young, and the joint songs with all three choruses will be determined once Anna has spoken with Bristol Fashion, but will include two of the following songs: Misty, The Best Things in Life Are Free or Harmony.
Each chorus will have a 30 minute set. The quartets' piece for the February concert will be Shine On and will be conducted by Nic Ellington. Mea Wilson has confirmed that she would like to sell refreshments at the concert.
A member of BUJO has contacted TUBBS requesting singers for an outreach program in an old people's home taking place Saturday 17th December.
Jacob wanted to check that he has access to the Friends and Alumni mailing lists. Carly confirmed that she has given him admin privileges, but will check again and show Jacob how to access it.
